Finding the Best Nanny for Your Family is Our Speciality

Back in 1983, there was no such thing as a nanny or Domestic Staffing agency in Los Angeles and San Francisco. And Our founder, Claudia Kahn, was a working mom who didn’t want to leave her young son with just anyone. She wanted a nanny who not only was reliable, loyal, responsible, honest, kind and caring but who was also invested in her son’s development and well-being. Claudia initiated her own search, which took her all the way to where the art of nannying began — England — and found the perfect nanny. Word spread, and soon she found herself helping others do the same.

And The Help Company was born.

We Place Exceptional Nannies in Wonderful Homes in LA, San Francisco, NY & Beyond

Today The Help Company places a range of childcare professionals, including nannies, governesses, newborn care specialists, tutors, drivers kind Domestic Staff on weekend/temp & on-call help. Our nannies come with a range of experience, certifications and education; for example, Early Childhood Development, Child Psychology, Teaching/Tutoring, Nursing, CPR/First Aid Certifications and more, upon request.

When it comes to finding just the right nanny for your family, we listen. Carefully. We’ve got the experience, intuition and expertise to guide clients and candidates alike throughout the placement process to ensure both are matched with their ideal circumstances.

Once we’ve made a placement, we go the extra mile, with consultants to train nannies in special areas (i.e. chefs who teach nannies how to cook healthy meals). We offer a 6-month guarantee to help clients and nannies get off on the right foot, and we also provide ongoing support so families can maintain healthy, happy working relationships with their nanny over time. As a result, we have an exceptionally high client retention rate from 30 plus years of successful pairings.

We Place Nannies, Babysitters & Other Childcare Specialists

When looking for just the right childcare, it may be confusing to know exactly what you’re looking for. For example, a nanny takes care of all your child’s needs, including meal prep and feeding, extracurricular activities and playdates, homework assistance, child-related housekeeping, driving and more. Beyond that, your nanny is responsible for fostering a healthy environment for the growth, development and well-being of your child; and because of that level of responsibility, a nanny has regular hours and a long-term contract with benefits (i.e. paid holidays and time off). Babysitters, on the other hand, share many of the same responsibilities, like preparing meals and snacks, driving your child to playdates and other activities, and helping with homework, but it’s a temporary position that doesn’t have regular hours or a formal agreement. The salary range for a nanny or babysitter is around the same, $25-$40 per hour — for nannies, it’s an 8-hour minimum. If you’re interested in babysitting services, be sure to check out our on-call service, The Help Club (4-hour minimum, 24-hour notice).
