We are helping a fantastic family find an equally fantastic Chef. Here’s the story — Mom/Dad and two littles (ages 1 & 3) need a FT Chef who can handle everything food related, i.e. daily lunch & dinner + baked goods for school, homemade popsicles, healthy snacks, fresh smoothies. The home is in Toluca Lake and sits on a large piece of land and the family would LOVE to start growing all sorts of fruits & veggies so the ideal candidate has a green thumb and is in to true farm-to-table eating. At the moment, both parents are on a real health kick — they like to live/eat waste free, so no plastic or processed sugar. Dad loves healthy versions of comfort food and says Italian, Japanese and Mediterranean are among their favorites. The right person for this position is into foraging and seasonal eating. Homemade bread & pasta would also be greatly appreciated. Schedule wise — the family is busy and they don’t often get to sit down together for meals. The lady of the house might eat at 6:30pm and the gentleman is usually done by 7:30/8pm but it’s fine if Chef leaves before the meal is finished.
The family is going to France mid-August through around 9/25, so this position could start now and then resume in late September (with a month off unpaid) OR Chef can start now and travel to France with the family (preferred) OR if there’s an interested Chef who is tied up over the summer, the position can start in late September. This job is more about the FOOD than the service component — i.e. the focus is on procuring (or growing!) fresh food, and cooking healthfully and bountifully versus being about setting the table and serving. There is autonomy in the kitchen and flexibility with the schedule, i.e. if Chef needs a Tuesday/Wednesday off for some reason and wants to come Sat/Sun instead one week — that’s fine. Generally speaking; however, it’s a M-F Schedule.
