A warm, private family in the Financial District is seeking an exceptional and highly polished housekeeper to care for their approximately 3,000 square foot appartment. The ideal candidate brings proven experience in similar households, an impeccable eye for detail, and a discreet, proactive, and anticipatory approach to running a home beautifully.

The family has a full-time nanny who handles the children’s day-to-day care, so this role focuses on the home, with school pick-up help for one of the children as detailed below. The right person takes genuine pride in a well-run household, works with minimal direction, and is also warm and comfortable around children.

Responsibilities:
Housekeeping: Daily cleaning and upkeep of the household, with care and appropriate products for fine furnishings, surfaces, and finishes. Create and maintain cleaning and organizational schedules for the home.

Laundry and wardrobe care: Washing, drying, ironing, and steaming of clothing and household linens, with a knowledgeable eye for reading labels and caring for good fabrics (no couture). Coordinate dry cleaning drop-off and pick-up, and keep everything organized and properly stored.

Household organization: Maintain immaculate, well-ordered closets, drawers, and storage. Monitor household supplies and toiletries and reorder before anything runs low. Prepare guest rooms to a high standard before and after visits. Receive deliveries and oversee occasional service and repair visits.

Errands: Grocery shopping, running errands as needed, package and dry cleaning pick-up.

Cooking: Cooking is part of this role and we would love someone comfortable in the kitchen. Mom enjoys cooking herself, so most days this is simply prepping ingredients (cutting fruit and vegetables, marinating the meat) and other days it may be preparing a family meal. Flexibility here is important.

School pick-up: You will handle school pick-up for one of the children in Union Square, per the schedule below.

Schedule:
M W F: 930am-530pm or 1030am-630pm. You will leave at 230pm or 430pm for school pick-up, depending on the child’s after-school activities. Bring the child home, then you may head home or stay and prep for dinner. It is your choice whether to start at 930am or 1030am, and when to prep dinner (in the morning or after pick-up).

T TH: 11am-7pm. On these days you will take the child uptown to their extra-curricular class, wait until class ends, and bring the child home.

About you:
Minimum 5 years of professional housekeeping experience in a fine private residence or luxury hospitality setting. A discreet, confidential, and professional manner. Strong organizational skills and the ability to anticipate needs and work independently, while also taking direction warmly when needed. Comfortable and kind around children. Excellent, verifiable references. English proficiency, spoken and written. Legally authorized to work in the United States.

The details:
Full-time, 5 days per week, approximately 40 hours. Competitive, top-of-market compensation for the right person. 10 paid holidays. 2 weeks PTO (the family prefers December and August, when they are away). This family is open to on or off the books.

We are helping a lovely and super kind family of 5 in Clinton Hill, BK find an amazing housekeeper for their 5 story townhome. Their housekeeper of 17 years just retired! There is no elevator, so please be okay with stairs daily! The role is 7am-3pm, Monday – Friday. When you arrive in the morning, you should head straight to the kitchen and help make the kids breakfast (eggs, oatmeal, toast, fruit). Help mom and dad get the kids out of the door, and then cleaning duties begin! There will be laundry daily, washing sheets, grocery store runs, letting vendors in, possible light meal prep (cut veggies, marinate meat), and daily cleaning duties. Mom and dad work from home, so knowing when to be present and in a room vs not is important. When the family travels during the summer, this is a perfect time for you to work on deep cleaning and organizational projects that you weren’t able to get to during the school year.
