Busy vibrant Mar Vista family seeks a dedicated Family Assistant! There are three children; ages 6, 11 and 13. The family is hoping to find a candidate who can integrate seamlessly into their family dynamic and provide vital support. The two older children have been diagnosed with mild autism and ADHD, so familiarity with emotional regulation and neurodivergency is a plus. (No specific certifications or qualifications are required other than a high EQ and patience.) The primary focus will be on the youngest child, but you will interface and engage with all three.

The tentative schedule is ideally Monday through Thursday from noon to 8pm and Sunday from 8 9am to 4 5pm. Sundays are mostly about food — hitting the farmers market, cleaning out the fridge, marketing and meal prep for the week. You are NOT expected to be a Chef, but hopefully you enjoy helping prepare healthy family meals and snacks. If you are holding out for a M-F schedule, we still want to hear from you! The family can be flexible regarding the schedule. Mom and Dad enjoy sneaking away for date nights and the occasional weekend away without the children so they hope to find a candidate who will be flexible with them in equal measure.

Candidates should be clear communicators who take initiative and can manage household responsibilities independently.

Key household duties are car washing, dog walking, running errands, marketing, unboxing donations, making returns, stocking the household and kitchen management. The Housekeeper comes every week, so while no deep cleaning is required, setting the kitchen back to normal and cleaning up after meals is required. The childcare responsibilities include school pickups, activity planning, and assisting with emotional regulation and sibling conflict. The ideal candidate is patient yet firm with experience across different age ranges, and the desire to connect with each child on an individual basis. Experience providing executive functioning support for chore, homework and other responsibilities is highly desired. These lists are illustrative but not exhaustive.

Candidates must have a clean driving record and a safe vehicle, as driving is required. Gas and mileage reimbursement will be provided. The pay is $35-$40 hr gross via payroll plus a $250 month stipend toward health insurance, and the position includes 5 paid sick days, 10 days PTO and federal holidays off, . Schedule is typically Monday-Friday. You might start your day with the drop off of the 12 year old boy – he is the only child home but the other 4 are away at school or starting their young careers. You will be responsible for the family calendar, the travel, the errands and the vendors.
As well as the typical assistant duties, you could be planning parties, gift buying, checking budgets. Buying cool clothing for the older kids could be part of your job, so loving fashion and culture is important in this position.
