Job Summary:
A private family in Montecito, CA, is seeking a reliable, experienced, and detail-oriented Housekeeper to join their household team as a second housekeeper. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining high standards of cleanliness, order, and organization across the family’s property, including a main house and a pool house gym. This role requires a commitment to excellence, professionalism, and discretion. The role includes taking direction from the Executive Housekeeper on property and working closely with all team members.
Key Responsibilities
1. Cleaning and Sanitizing:
● Dust, sweep, vacuum, and mop floors, as well as polish furniture.
● Deep clean bathrooms, including toilets, sinks, bathtubs, showers, mirrors, and floors.
● Clean kitchen areas: countertops, appliances, sinks, and, if necessary, wash dishes.
● Change and make beds, organize bedroom spaces, and manage bedding.
● Clean windows, mirrors, and other glass surfaces.
● Sweep outdoor patios or entryways as needed.
2. Laundry Management:
● Wash, dry, fold, and organize clothing and linens.
● Iron and press garments as needed.
● Sort laundry by color, fabric type, or family member.
● Ensure proper storage of linens and clothing, and maintain wardrobe organization.
3. Trash and Recycling:
● Empty trash cans, replace liners, and maintain clean disposal areas.
● Sort and dispose of recyclables appropriately.
● Ensure trash collection and disposal adhere to household guidelines. 4. Organizing and Tidying:
● Keep rooms organized, clutter-free, and welcoming.
● Arrange personal items neatly, such as clothes, books, and toys.
● Maintain organized pantry, storage areas, and ensure household supplies are
well-stocked.
5. Restocking Supplies:
● Monitor cleaning supplies and household essentials (e.g., soap, toilet paper).
● Inform the Executive housekeeper when supplies are running low to facilitate timely
restocking.
6. Occasional Specialized Cleaning:
● Perform tasks such as washing walls, cleaning baseboards, and addressing high
surfaces.
● Clean carpets or upholstery as necessary.
● Assist with seasonal or event-based tasks, such as organizing holiday decorations.
7. Pet Care
● Feed, water, and tend to pets as needed.
● Clean pet areas, including litter boxes, bedding, and food bowls.

The couple is looking for another full time, loyal and proud person to help take care of their very large compound in Santa Monica. The main house is close to 8000 sq ft, and the cottage next door is tiny, but they do use the kitchen and eat in the cottage! The family would love someone that likes dogs, likes to organize, and is fine changing their bed and doing the sheets 3 x a week.. Other then the ironing, the house is very neat and they do keep it up themselves. Their nephew lives in the cottage next door, and does keep his home tidy also. We are looking for a reliable, detail-oriented, and proactive Housekeeper to assist with household maintenance, cleaning, and family support in a friendly, active home. The ideal candidate will be experienced in managing household tasks, prioritizing cleanliness, and maintaining a calm, organized environment. You will be supporting a family of four (two parents and two teens) as well as two cats and a friendly, medium-sized dog.

The position requires flexibility, attention to detail, and a high level of trustworthiness, especially when handling laundry, food prep, and maintaining a fragrance-free environment. While the role involves standard housekeeping tasks, there will be some personalized requirements for specific family needs, including a preference for eco-friendly, gentle cleaning solutions.

Key Responsibilities —

General Cleaning to Maintenance:
Dusting, mopping, vacuuming, and maintaining cleanliness in all common areas (kitchen, living room, bathrooms, bedrooms).
Regular kitchen cleaning, including washing dishes, wiping down surfaces, and maintaining organization.
Laundry: Washing, folding, and putting away clothes. Be especially cautious with delicate fabrics, paying attention to care labels.
Ironing: Light ironing of Oxford shirts for the Mr. (no extensive ironing required.) Handling dry cleaning items with care, ensuring that only items marked for dry cleaning are placed in the separate dry cleaning bin.
Grocery shopping: Plan and shop for groceries based on provided list, including preparing and cooking simple meals like soup, beans, and grilled chicken once a week.
Maintaining a fragrance-free home environment (no scented products, bug sprays, etc.). The family prefers to use vinegar for cleaning where possible.

Family Support:
Assistance with household organization and tidying.
Pet care: Daily care for two cats and a friendly dog, including feeding, cleaning litter boxes, and walking the dog if needed.
Occasional care or transportation for the two teenagers as needed, particularly the younger one (high school) who does not yet have a driver’s license.

Travel Support:
House and petsit when the employer travels (typically for 5-9 days) – could be longer.

Please have 5-10plus years of experience with amazing references! Ideally you live in the West Valley or somewhere close enough to the home in Point Dume, Malibu.

There’s laundry for five people, and a minimal amount of ironing to do. The beds are changed once a week. The family is looking for someone who wants to stay with the family forever to ever. Their last Housekeeper stayed with the family for 8 years! Mom handles the cooking and the shopping. You may be asked to take the dogs to the groomer or help pick up the mess they leave in the backyard. There may be occasional carpooling for the children, but you will have access to the family car! The ideal hours are 10:00am-8:00pm (or 11:00am to 8:00pm) and paid time off is two weeks off at Christmas. All other holidays will need to be discussed in advance and will be worked out between Housekeeper and Employer directly. Flexibility is key to success in this role. It will be a bonus if you are able to spend the night with the dogs when the family goes out of town. Overnight pay, TBD. The pay is $35 hour, cash. No health insurance.
