Helping a sweet UWS family find a nanny for their newborn

We have a great family on the UWS that is looking for a nanny for their newborn, who will be born mid-May. There is also a 4 and 8 year old in the home, so you must be comfortable caring for all 3 at times. Their current nanny is with them until mid-March, so you will overlap with her and then be on your own with the 4 and 8 year old, until the baby is born. Mom works from home, so there is always a parent in the home. They are looking for a true team player! If mom wants to be with the baby, then you will pick the other 2 up from school, or vice versa! You should know all stages of development for babies and toddlers, how to make baby food, sanitize toys and bottles, children’s laundry, etc. Mom knows what she likes, so being able to follow direction is really important. This is primarily a Monday-Friday role, 8am-6pm. The family travels often and does not take a nanny with them. They will give you a lot of advance notice so you can also plan your vacations around their travel. 5 legal sick days will also be given. Rate is $35-$40, DOE. A lovely, established Westside family is seeking a polished and experienced Governess for their two young children, ages five and under. Both parents are busy professionals and are looking for a confident, full-charge nanny who brings a calm, structured, and disciplined presence to the home.

In the beginning, the role will require longer days, assisting with breakfast and the morning routine and remaining through the evening and bedtime in order to help establish consistency and strong household rhythms. During school or activity hours, support with children’s laundry, light meal preparation, and general organization related to the children would be appreciated.

Structure, boundaries, and a steady demeanor are especially important to the family. Once systems are in place and routines are running smoothly, the schedule is expected to become more flexible, with slightly later starts balanced by later evenings as needed. Occasional travel, approximately two to three trips per year both domestically and internationally, would be welcomed.

The ideal candidate will bring many years of relevant experience or a background in child development or education (A former preschool teacher would be wonderful!) along with exceptional references, a clean background report, and the confidence to establish strong routines and best practices.
