A wonderful family of five in beautiful Woodside, CA is looking for a talented and passionate Private Chef to join their household. Their current chef, who has been with them for many years, is relocating — so this is an exciting opportunity to step into a cherished role and become part of their daily lives. This is a warm, welcoming family who truly values great food and the joy it brings. They’re looking for a Michelin-level chef who is equally comfortable creating elegant, seasonal meals as they are preparing simple, family-style dinners. The children eat at 5:30 PM and the parents at 6:00 PM, so thoughtful menu planning and timing are key. When they entertain, a server will be brought in so you can focus on the food. The schedule is Sunday–Thursday, 11:00 AM – 7:00 PM, with Fridays and Saturdays off (some flexibility appreciated with advance notice). Kitchen cleaning is expected, but a housekeeper handles deep cleaning each morning. The family would also love their chef to travel with them a few weeks each year to homes in Hawaii and Lake Tahoe. We are looking for a wonderful, fun and energetic Chef that has worked for excitng and top restaurants in SF – for a family of four in Atherton, California. This is a great opportunity for someone who is creative and interested in cooking for a family for whom food is really important. This position would be 4-5 days a week (Sunday through Thursday with some adjustments and flexibility for events) from 11am to 8pm with a half hour break. The family consists of two adults and two teenagers. The family generally eats vegetarian but will add in some animal proteins on occasion (primarily for the older teen) serve meat and fish for events and dinner parties. The family likes having a very diverse menu – one day Mexican, one day Indian, one day surprise them! so it it is important that the chef is comfortable cooking food from different cuisine’s with an eye toward food being relatively healthy and light but also very flavorful. The kitchen is gorgeous and well equipped and most importantly, it is the center of the house so the chef should feel comfortable interacting with family members and also receiving feedback to help fine tune the cooking to the family’s preference.

We are hoping to find someone with some high end restaurant experience (a Michelin star is not required) who is energetic and emotionally intelligent. If the personality and the energy are a fit, previous private chef experience is not necessary.

Salary will be based on experience and also with some variability based on scheduling. Salary will be guaranteed based on days work and will be paid out as an hourly rate.

Benefits–Very generous Monthly stipend for health insurance

Travel– Travel to the family’s property in Aspen for a range of 4-8 weeks a year. There will generally be 1-2 1 week stretches from December through February and one longer stretch during the summer.

Schedule Vacation–Two weeks vacation during the normal course of the schedule. The working agreement will be for 240 days a year and there will be opportunities to take some extended time off when the family is traveling out of country.
